Three Long Service Awards presented at Royal Manx Agricultural Show 2026

Each year at the Royal Manx Agricultural Show, the Department of Environment, Food & Agriculture present a long service award in recognition and appreciation of 30 year’s continuous service to the farming industry.

This year, three long service awards were presented. Congratulations to Glenn Leece, Allan Skillicorn & Graham (Picky) Pickering on this well-deserved recognition.

Glenn Leece

Glenn of W F Leece & Son Ltd, founded by Glenn’s grandfather 93 years ago. Glenn has driven for the company for 55 years and has run the business for the last few decades. Some may argue that being able to back modern wagons in old Manx farm yards may be one of the reasons he so successfully rallies his minis.

Allan Skillicorn

Allan’s love of farming started as a lad at Barroose Farm in Baldrine. He then attended Newton Rigg agricultural college. Allan was farm manager at Ballamona Farm for 17 years, from there Allan and his family moved to the Clypse Farm which he managed for a further 26 years.

He has been a member of the Royal Manx Agricultural Society since 1975, where he has shown cattle, was President in 2023 and now his family run the Burger Queen.

Graham (Picky) Pickering

In case anyone is unsure of who I am talking about by using his Sunday name, I do of course mean “Picky” by which he is affectionately known throughout the farming community.

He started working for Chris Cowley at The Nab, but is more known for his contracting work, in which he worked with Philly Corkish before he became Farm Manager for Hugh Haslett at Ballamillagyn.

A fitting recognition of three individuals who have each given so much to the Manx farming community.
